Hedy Lamarr was an extraordinary woman. She was brilliant, fiercely independent, and fascinatingly complex. She escaped a controlling marriage to an Austrian munitions dealer, fled to London, conquered Hollywood, and retained a lifelong fascination with tinkering and inventing. She designed an improved stoplight and a fizzing drink tablet.
Her life story is compelling enough on its own merits. She does not need a false technical legacy attached to her name to be worthy of respect.
